No longer than last week, I found an old Dell USB keyboard in a box. I wanted to use it with my 2012 MacBookAir when I’m home and enjoying my 22″ Dell display.

But the problem was that I couldn’t use this keyboard as an Apple keyboard because the keys topology isn’t the same (it’s windows topology).

I found something interesting in Mac OS 10.8 : you can edit the topology of your keyboards.

HowTo :
Go to System Preferences => Keyboard => Modify keys…
You can there choose the keyboard you want to edit.
What I did :
Change « Alt » key to « Cmd »
Change « Flag(window) » key to « option(alt) »
Let « Ctrl » and « Maj Lock » like that, it’s the same as apples.

Now enjoy your new old 0€ Apple keyboard.
